N/R: Three arrested for alleged weapon smuggling in Savelugu

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals suspected of smuggling weapons in an intelligence-led operation conducted in Savelugu, Northern Region.

The suspects — Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus — were picked up on May 1, 2025, from their respective hideouts following a targeted police operation.

During the arrests, police retrieved a cache of weapons and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, one submachine gun (SMG), a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol, a single-barrel gun, two magazines, fifteen rounds of AK-47 ammunition, thirteen rounds of pistol ammunition, twenty-seven additional rounds of unspecified ammunition, and five BB cartridges.

The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

A statement from the Northern Regional Police Command said the suspects will be processed and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
