Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, the National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary Candidate for Dome Kwabenya Constituency, has criticised her opponent, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for her decision to apologise to Ghanaians after a long absence from Parliament.
Their Member of Parliament’s attitude, according to Madam Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, is shameful and should not be tolerated.
Elikplim Akurugu disclosed this in an interview with Kingdom FM during her tour of the EC’s registration centre in Kwabenya.
It will be remembered that the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya apologised to the various hierarchies in her party in a viral video on Thursday, September 14, 2023, for ignoring her Parliamentary duties, which led to her dismissal as Gender Minister by President Akufo-Addo on July 28, 2022.
In response to the apology video by Hon. Adwoa Safo, the NDC’s PC said, “The good people of Dome Kwabenya are widely awake, and they will not be swayed by such hypocritical content of their MP because apologising to the people in just a viral video is an insult in disguise to Ghanaians.”
Touching on the limited registration exercise by the Electoral Commission, she hinted at some anomalies relating to the breakdown of some of the machines and network challenges.
According to her, the process is satisfactory, and she hopes to see a positive outcome at the end of the exercise.
