Newmont Ghana has chalked yet another success as two of its mining sites received twelve awards at the 8th Ghana Mining Industry Awards.
Held at Movenpick Hotel in Accra on Friday, 2 December 2022, the Newmont Ghana’s Ahafo and Akyem mines picked up 12 awards (5 major awards, 4 runner-up awards, and 3 personality awards).
The senior manager in charge of sustainability and external relations at Newmont Ghana, Charlotte Fafa Tay Senyo, said Newmont’s core values contributed immensely to it winning the awards.
“We won Mining Company of the Year in the Club 100 awards and to be able to win the Best Green Mine, which is the first time it has been introduced, and winning the Best in the Environment, we feel very proud.
“These [awards] go to the team,” Senyo said.
The Ghana Mining Industry Awards ceremony is organised by the Ghana Chamber of Mines. The event recognizes excellence and the contribution of mining companies and individuals to the development of the country.
