Some residents and the Traditional Council of the Akwamu community in the Oti Region have taken to the streets to demonstrate against the massive destruction of farm crops caused by Fulani herdsmen in the community.
The activities of these Fulani Herdsmen in Akwamu and other communities are making farming more difficult due to the inappropriate management of their animals.
The residents are appealing to Agriculture Minister and other relevant stakeholders to intervene as soon as possible to bring sanity to the community.
According to Okyeame Baffour Kyei, these Fulani Herdsmen were believed to have come from Asante Akim Agogo in the Ashanti region, and their activities destroy the farm crops of natives.
He added that countless engagements have been made between the Fulani Herdsmen and the communities to find a lasting solution to the massive destruction of farm crops with their cattle but proved futile.
”Therefore, we embarked on a demonstration to register our displeasure against the Fulani Herbs men because they are causing a lot of damage to our farm, and if our leaders fail to come to our aid and stop them from destroying our farmland, we will take any action to defend our lives and farm crops”. Some residents added.
“Now we cannot tolerate their activities anymore in any of our communities”.
