The incident which claimed one life occurred in the late hours of Sunday within the area.

According to multiple sources, police had stormed the spot believed to be known as a haven for suspected wee smokers to effect an arrest.

Information gathered also indicates that the police had fled from the scene after shooting one to death leaving two motorcycles belonging to the police service.

Although what may have triggered the shooting from the law enforcers, is not immediately known, the family of the deceased disclosed that the victim had returned from Accra on Sunday evening and was shot dead in the late hours of the same day.

Reports further explained that the victim was shot from the back while attempting to flee the scene to escape arrest by the police.

It is also alleged that the officer of the law who shot the gun at the victim causing his death had been visiting the base or ‘ghato’ of the suspects to smoke and tend to harass and extort monies from the victim and his friends.

Our undoubted sources pointed out that the police after shooting the victim initially fled the scene with other suspects and later returned.
Reports again suggest that some of the residents present at the time seized two motorcycles and caused damage to them while the police are also alleging that a rifle was missing during the scuffle with the community members present.

While the management of the police has not issued any statement acknowledging or disputing the incident, the family of the victim is calling for swift action and investigation to ensure justice for the victim.
