The Senior Presidential Advisor, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Marfo has commended the Republic Bank Ghana PLC for partnering with the government of Ghana in improving the Public Sector Mortgage Scheme.
He said the Bank was a key player during the development and implementation of the National Housing and Mortgage Fund, instituted under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He made these statement last Friday during the official commissioning of the Republic Court Building in Accra, where he heaped praises on management of the bank, for beautifying African Union Square (Ridge Roundabout).
“The story of the growth of this Bank is worth celebrating. Let me take this opportunity to express Government’s appreciation to Republic Bank for the leadership you have shown in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. You are the first Bank in Ghana to announce a loan moratorium and other reliefs for your customers. You also supported the COVID-19 Private Sector Fund during the construction of the Infectious Isolation and Treatment Centre and donated to various health centers across the country. Thank you for responding to the call by the President for institutional support”. He said
The fund, Mr. Osafo-Marfo mentioned, continue to provide public sector workers with affordable mortgage loans highly subsidized by the government.
“The government of Ghana is committed to expanding the housing scheme with the supply of affordable houses through the State Housing Company, SSNIT and also, supporting developers with cheaper loans for the construction of affordable housing units”. He added
He pointed out that, Government recognizes and appreciates Republic Bank Ghana for their partnership in the beautification project of Accra by their adoption of the African Union Square for greening and maintenance.
The Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison on his part, commended the Republic Bank for distinguishing itself by implementing sound policies to benefit customers, stakeholders, staff etc. He said the Bank recorded a deposit growth of 15.6% in the last quarter of 2021.
Gracing the historic occasion was the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey; Accra Mayor, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, Regional Police Commander, DCOP Iddi Lansah Seidu; Municipal Chief Executive, KoKMA Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah; the Honorary Consul, Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Hilton John Mitchell.
