Dancehall artiste, Epixode has stated that Reggae as genre is the Godmother above all other music genres.
“If I should make it brief for you, Reggae is the Godmother of all genres and even before that, there was something called rock study” he said.
According to him, his genre, which is dancehall is more of a sub of Reggae just like there’s lovers rock and root reggae..
Epixode urged that, in order to promote Ghanaian music, Artistes who are incorporating and blending Ghanaian highlife with other genres to make the Ghanaian music lively like Stonebwoy must be pushed and applauded.
According to him, Dancehall in Ghana has taken the country to some level which needs to be appreciated.
Citing some illustrations to back his assertions, Epixode coined out the collaboration of Beyonce, Rock Dawuni bringing in Grammy nomination whilst stonebwoy has also been recognized at the BET awards.
Additionally, Epixode said, if Dancehall is bringing the artistes money, business and putting food on their table, it must not be taken for granted.
“Even though, music is a message, it’s a mission, we also see it as a trade and then we make money off it to feed our family and, let’s face the fact, Dancehall has taken Ghana to the international front” he added.
