Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs Ministry suspends La Traditional Council

The Ministry of Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs, in conjunction with the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, has indefinitely suspended the operations of the La Traditional Council.

The Ministry of Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs, in conjunction with the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, has indefinitely suspended the operations of the La Traditional Council.

In a statement signed by Enoch Addo, the Registrar of the House of Chiefs, the suspension will take effect on September 26, 2024, until further notice.

The purpose of the suspension is to allow both the Regional House and the Ministry to implement necessary measures for the effective functioning of the council.

All government institutions have been instructed not to engage with individuals or groups claiming to represent the La Traditional Council.

“All issues related to Paramount Stool Land must also be put on hold until the La Traditional Council resumes operations or until a new La Paramount Chief (La Mantse) is enstooled, as outlined in Section 45 of the Chieftaincy Act,” Mr. Addo stated.

Additionally, the Registrar of the La Traditional Council has been directed to hand over Council property to the Regional House for further instructions.
