Sunyani Technical University tops 30th Anniversary Debate in Middle Zone Celebrations

Sunyani Technical University has topped the debate competition held as part of the 30th-anniversary celebrations of uninterrupted parliamentary democracy under the Fourth Republic held in the Middle Zone.

Sunyani Technical University has topped the debate competition held as part of the 30th-anniversary celebrations of uninterrupted parliamentary democracy under the Fourth Republic held in the Middle Zone.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani Campus, came fourth, while the Catholic University took third. The second position was taken by the UENR Dormaa campus.1

Four schools debated Passionately and persuasively on the motion “Social media is making us less social,” highlighting the pros and cons of digital connection and its impact on interpersonal relationships.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin encouraged the youth to actively participate in political processes and strive to occupy parliamentary seats, particularly women.

This debate was part of nationwide activities marking the 30th-anniversary celebration, which began last year and is expected to culminate this year.

The Northern, Western, and Eastern Zones have already held events, including public forums, mock sittings, peace walks, and fun games. Other activities in the middle zone will take place in Techiman, and Kumasi.
