The Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC), to publish the 2024 electoral calendar ahead of the December elections.

Mr. Boamah in an open letter posted on social media to the EC on Friday, March 1, 2024, said it is disappointing that the EC has as at now not released the schedule, which will guide their activities going into the election 2024.

“In this open letter, I deploy definite statements and questions to draw the attention of Ghanaians, the Electoral Commission itself, the Inter- Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) and all stakeholders including development partners to the immutable truth that, the EC is behind schedule regarding preparations towards elections 2024.

“I wish to remind the Electoral Commission that the calendar of activities to guide the December 07 presidential and parliamentary elections this year is still not available to political parties and major stakeholders.
“Time is limited…Therefore, the Electoral Commission must immediately sit up and release the calendar of activities (Timetable) to guide the December 07, 2024 elections,” he stressed.
Despite the Deputy Electoral Commission (EC) Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare’s promise that the electoral calendar will be released before the end of February 2024, nothing has been issued.
“We will certainly do it before the end of this month, before the end of February, the calendar should be out,” he told the Public Accounts Committee last month.
