Two employees of Pizzaman, a popular pizza chain in Ghana, have been sentenced to five years imprisonment for stealing 20 boxes of chicken wings and gallons of cooking oil from the company’s warehouse located at Nyankyerenease.
The prosecuting officer, ASP Jonas Newlove Adjei, speaking to the court presided over by H/H Fred Obekyere, Esq., explained that on May 1, 2023, the executive chef of Pizzaman received a call from the warehouse manager informing him that two Oki cooking oil gallons and eight boxes of chicken wings had been stolen from the warehouse.
The chef went to the warehouse to investigate and discovered that the items had indeed been stolen. The company then held an emergency meeting where workers were asked to provide any information they had about the stolen items.
During the interrogation, Rashid Abdullah stated that he saw Seidu Karim hiding two gallons of Oki cooking oil behind the fence wall, while Seidu Karim claimed to have seen Rashid Abdullah hiding two boxes of chicken wings at the back of the fence wall.
The stolen items were retrieved from them, and they were later handed over to the Asuoyeboah police command for further investigations.
Upon investigation, Seidu Karim confessed to stealing 20 gallons of Oki cooking oil from the company over a two-month period. As a result, both accused persons were charged with the offense and sentenced to five years imprisonment each in hard labor by the Kwadaso Circuit Court.
