The Black Meteors of Ghana have booked their ticket to Morocco for the 2023 U-23 AFCON after beating Algeria at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The Meteors who managed a draw in Algiers needed a win to make it to the U-23 AFCON for the first time since 2004.
Ibrahim Tanko’s men started the game on a good note as they looked to get the opener after Fatawu Issahaku’s early effort hit the crossbar.
The opener finally came for the Meteors in the 12th minute after Ernest Nuamah and Fatawu Issahaku combined to get the goal.
The Black Meteors kept dominating after the early lead but were keep quiet by the Algerians who were also determined to get back into the game.
However, the Meteors could not double their lead as the first half ended in a goal to nil in favor of Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s men.
The second half was no different as the Black meteors pushed for the second but were lacking the cutting edge in front of goal.
Captain on the day, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh had the opportunity to put his team two goals up but could not find the back of the net on several occasions.
The game ended 1-0 in favor of the Black Meteors making them book a ticket to Morocco in June later this year.
