On July 15, 2023, the US Navy and US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, commissioned a new 3-unit classroom block for the Nutekpor Basic School in the Volta region.

The occasion was graced by the Ghana Navy Command, some political appointees, Chiefs, and elders of the community, as well as some representatives from the USA.

The government, through GETFund, started the project eight years ago, but the project came to a standstill.

According to the report, in 2022, the US Navy had a training program with the Ghana Navy command at Nutekpor in the Volta region in the South Tongu Constituency. As a result of the visits, they realized that the basic school in the community lacked a good structure for learning purposes.

The US Navy and USA Ambassador to Ghana noticed that the school was under a death trap.

The Headmaster of Nutekpor Basic School, Johnson Amedzo, thanked the US Navy and USA Ambassador to Ghana for their benevolence in renovating the dilapidated structure of the school.

“Let’s appreciate them to know that they have done great jobs for the school and the community,” The headmaster said.

Nutekpor Basic School was established in 1974, and it has produced many great people, both men and women, but not a single of them came back to do something for the school or the community.
