The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that voter registration for the 2024 election will begin May 7 and end May 27, 2024, in all 16 regions across the country.
Speaking at the Organised Labour’s May Day Forum in Accra on Thursday, April 25, 2025, the Commission’s Deputy Chair of Operations, Samuel Tettey, emphasised the importance of eligible voters registering.
“The voter register plays an important role in securing a very successful election. For this year’s update of the voter register, the Commission has set from the 7th of May to the 27th of May to update the voter register to include those who have attained the age of 18 since the last registration and those who were not able to register during the last registration exercise.”
He further reiterated that the commission conducts numerous processes prior to election day, but the voter registration exercise is the most important and demanding.
“It is the most complex and expensive component of the electoral process and it involves identifying which citizens are eligible to vote and producing a list of register of voters for use on polling day”.
