A devastating motor accident has claimed the lives of two individuals on Sunday afternoon, around 4:30 pm at Wassa Amenfi East in the Western region.
The accident, which occurred along a section of the Dunkwa to Bogoso highway near Wassa Ntwentwena, was attributed to a fatal case of wrong overtaking.
The victims, identified as Kofi Mensah and Kwame Ogange, both in their 40s, were aboard a motorbike en route from Wassa Domeabra to Wassa Nkonya when tragedy struck.
Their journey was abruptly halted by a head-on collision with another motorbike after an ill-fated overtaking attempt.
The collision threw Kofi Mensah and Kwame Ogange onto the road, where they tragically succumbed to injuries sustained from the impact of an oncoming passenger vehicle.
In addition to the loss of life, other passengers on the motorbike suffered injuries in the harrowing incident.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to a local hospital for autopsy and preservation as investigations into the accident continue.
