Ghana’s U-17 men’s national team, the Black Starlets, recorded an emphatic victory over their Ivorian counterparts at the University of Ghana Stadium on Wednesday in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations.
The Starlets enjoyed a flying start, with Joseph Narbi’s brace in the first half, giving Ghana an advantage over the Ivorians.
Narbi’s first goal came in the 27th minute after Theophilus Ayamga sent in a brilliant ball over the Ivorian defense.
Narbi again added the second just three minutes to the end of the half after he pounced on a poor clearance from the Ivorian defense.
After the break, Laryea Kingston’s men continued their fine form and added the third through Godfred Sarpong.
Two minutes later, the Ivorians pulled one back to get their only consolation goal of the game.
But Mark Kagawa and Harve Gbafa added two more goals to round out a fantastic Ghana victory over Côte d’Ivoire.
The Black Starlets will face Benin in their next game on Tuesday, May 21.
