The Executive Director of Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), Dr. Joseph Siaw-Agyepong has pledged support to help sustain ‘Operation Clean your Frontage’ initiative which is aimed at making Accra city clean.
This was after the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey has said the operationalisation of the project involves all waste management companies in the city.
Dr. Siaw-Agyepong said Zoomlion Ghana Limited is putting in measures and logistics to spearhead the long awaited project that aims to encourage citizens to ensure their surroundings and environment are always clean and neat.
Zoomlion Ghana Limited as one of the key contractors has teamed up with a Turkish company to provide transfer stations in all the 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) for easy transportation and recycling of the waste.
Addressing the media, Dr. Siaw-Agyepong commended the Greater Regional Minister, for the bold step and leadership to ensure the Greater Accra Region is clean and safe for its citizenry.
To ensure the sustainable of the project, he hinted that, Zoomlion Ghana Limited is supporting the project with logistics in terms of deploying of personnel for the ‘Operation Clean your Frontage’’.
“Designs have been done, equipment have been imported, currently, we are looking at eight sites but four is ready”, he said.
Transfer Solid waste stations he noted will be in Mallam, Madina, Ashaiman and Weija to support the Achimota and Accra Solid Waste sites.
The urgency of these Solid sites he explained is to help in the collection of the wastes from the project adding that, these transfer sites are well designed to handle the pressure.
In addition, 2000 brand new tricycles will be provided with containers as well as 60 brand new trucks to support and sustain the concept.
“We are going to see how to position ourselves strategically to render efficient services to the people of Ghana”, he stated.
1st February, 2022 is set by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to engage citizens in the region on the need to support this initiative as they collectively keep Greater Accra clean and safe for all and sundry.
Addressing the security personnel’s, national service personnel and staff of the twenty nine Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), the Regional Minister, Mr. Quartey indicated that, ‘Operation Clean your Frontage’ project is for every citizen residing in the Greater Accra Region.
He said the ‘Operation Clean your Frontage’ should not be seen as a political machinery to deprive people of their daily bread but to ensure sanity and clean environment hence safety and wellbeing of people in the region.
Mr. Quartey therefore charged Ghanaians to own it, participate and ensure its sustainability.
Dubai he noted has become a destination for many tourists because of systems working and citizens abiding to laid down laws stressing that, “Ghana can become the Dubai you want to travel to when citizens abide by the laws and regulations laid down by city authorities.
