Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton has expressed confidence in his team, after recording two wins in the last five days.
He disclosed this in his post-match press conference on September 12 in Accra after his side defeated Liberia 3-1 in an international friendly game.
After a shaky start in the first half, the Black Stars improved their performance and scored all three goals in the second half, to defeat their West African counterpart, with goals coming from Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus and Jordan Ayew.
Asked what he thinks could be done to improve his side after the game, he said “We tried a different formation because I think these are games where perhaps, you can try things even though it’s not to the detriment of the results, we still wanted to win the game, and still want to be strong as possible.
“But I’ve seen enough in the two games to always give me confidence. There are still things we could have done better. Today in the first half, I think we gave the ball away. The pitch was difficult with obviously the rain, but I thought we gave the ball away too easily at times in that first half period, I’ve seen enough in the two games to be confident and optimistic and looking forward to the next camp.”
As part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, they will play other friendly matches against Mexico and the USA next month.
