Gokals AniLimited has commissioned the first ever digital free Ophthalmic lens manufacturing lab in Ghana to provide customers with an express and good quality lens.

The Gokals lab technology can manufacture any type of lens within two hours and it was constructed to help Ghanaians blend technology with speed and quality.

Speaking to the media at the event, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Gokals, Mr Lal Gokaldas, said the vision was conceived by the late Atmaram Gokaldas in 1978, after shifting from the production of toothbrushes and a host of other businesses.

Mr Gokaldas said Gokals believes in quality adding that there is no shortcut to modern days of doing things.

He said at Gokals every worker is treated as a chief executive officer because each work is unique and believes in the division of labour.

The Chief Executive Officer of Gokals AniLimited, Mr Ashish Gokaldas, the root of the Gokals Company in Ghana can be traced from 1930, and have grown into a fourth-generation family-owned business with expertise in pharmaceuticals, opticals, and natural wellness/beauty.

“We are leaders in the import, distribution, and services for pharmaceuticals, to deliver high-quality products at affordable prices. We welcome new business opportunities that can serve the needs of the Ghanaian people,” he stated.

He said the new addition of the first digital lens lab is not only to sell customers eyewear products but also to provide solutions to all eye problems

Mr Gokaldas said Gokals commences the manufacturing of digital free form lenses in Ghana after the Meddle East and Africa (MEIA) Director, Mr Ram Narayana of Coburn Technologies visits Ghana to commence the surface and edging.

Describing the lens lab, Mr Narayana said is a tailor-made lens for your eyes, highly customized to the individual and patients. Ranging from functional lenses or photochromatic, progressive, blue light blocking, bifocal and special materials such as polycarbonate, trivex and high index.

In 1974, the late Atmaran Gokaldas, committed to bringing clearer vision to Ghanaians via a conventional lab, Gokals industries and serviced the end patient via Gokals Opticals.

“It is in his memory, that we have challenged ourselves to deliver vision and deliver crystal vision to our stakeholders, our customers and the patients of Ghana.”

The manufacturer, Coburn Technologies, established in 1954, is one of the oldest manufacturers of lens surfacing equipment and is present in every country on every continent.

Commending the investment made by Gokals, the Director of Health Facilities and Regulatory Authority, Dr Philip Bannor, said the new technology at Gokals has come to add to the government effort of providing a solution to eye-related problems in the country.

He challenged the workers to put the investment into good use and ensure that they provide the best services to their customers in the optical environment.
