The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a key suspect in connection with a string of robberies and brutal murders targeting taxi drivers in the Greater Accra Region, particularly within the Odorkor area.
He has been identified as Peter Akakpo, also known by the alias ‘Dompe’.
A statement issued by the Police explained that the suspect was arrested following intensive investigations launched after the killings of two taxi drivers at Sakaman Blue Lagoon, which occurred on May 9 and June 15, 2025, respectively.
Police intelligence-led operations first led to the arrest of Vincent Gbetorglo on June 30, 2025.
Further investigative work revealed that Gbetorglo had maintained contact with Akakpo, whose mobile number was directly linked to both murder victims.
The suspect was arrested on October 13, 2025, at Kasoa-Domeabra.
He was found in a room allegedly rented by his accomplice, Vincent Gbetorglo. Akakpo is a known ex-convict.
The Service noted that efforts are currently underway to retrieve the vehicles belonging to the deceased drivers, which are believed to have been stolen during the commission of the crimes.
