Two persons have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service’s Homicide Unit in connection with the alleged disappearance of the remains of the late Odupong Ofaakor, Chief of Kasoa, Nai Awushie Tetteh, in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

According to Nananom, the remains of the late chief reportedly went missing several months after his death, prompting the Police Homicide Unit to commence investigations.

The two suspects, identified as Daniel Awer and Chris Banahene, have since been arrested and are currently in police custody.

Addressing a press conference, the boundary Chief of the Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Kwaben Atopi, alleged that the Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Sabah Banini, connived with the two suspects to remove the remains of the late chief.

Nai Atopi, however, said Nananom have since established the whereabouts of the remains.

He added that the necessary traditional arrangements would be made to retrieve the body and ensure that the late chief is properly laid to rest.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Kasoa, Nai Saani Seidu III, has expressed disappointment in the Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive, accusing him of disrespecting Nananom since assuming office.
