Persecutions led by the Office of the Special Prosecutor have resumed following a landmark Supreme Court decision affirming the institution’s constitutional mandate to prosecute corruption.

Proceedings had remained suspended since April 2026 after a High Court ruling challenged the authority of the Office, throwing several high-profile legal actions into temporary limbo. With legal clarity now restored, the anti-graft agency has published an updated schedule setting court dates for ongoing matters through to late 2027.

The revised docket features several prominent public figures and corporate entities facing financial crime charges. Among the flagship cases, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority Mustapha Abdul-Hamid is scheduled to appear on 11 August 2026 alongside seven co-accused, including former Unified Petroleum Price Fund coordinator Jacob Kwamina Amuah, NPA staff member Wendy Newman, and associated corporate entities.

Proceedings involving former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta are set to proceed on 27 AUGUST 2026. The case names seven co-defendants, including his former chef de cabinet Ernest Darko Akore, former Ghana Revenue Authority Commissioners-General Emmanuel Kofi Nti and Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former Customs Division Commissioners Isaac Crentsil and Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd), executive Evans Adusei, and Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited.

On the same date, former Northern Development Authority Chief Executive Sumaila Abdul-Rahman will stand trial alongside former deputy executives Stephen Yir-Eru Engmen and Patrick Seidu, as well as A&QS Consortium Limited Chief Executive Andrew Kuundaari. In a separate matter, Issah Seidu, John Abban, and Peter Archibold Hyde are scheduled for a hearing on 23 October 2026.

Later autumn dates include the trial of former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, who appears on 26 October 2026 alongside former GalamStop software systems manager Raphael Mensah and former committee project coordinator Dr Naa Dedei Tagoe. Local Government Service technician Ibrahim Kofi Sessah and Dansoman Polyclinic nurse Gloria Acquah are scheduled to appear on 27 October 2026.

The extended calendar stretches into 2027, with former Public Procurement Authority Chief Executive Adjenim Boateng Adjei set to stand trial on 13 October 2027. The published schedule marks a concerted effort by the prosecution to clear the backlog created during the multi-month legal hiatus.
